The Rice GT Collection

The rice glycosyltransferases targeted for cloning by JBEI were defined by the Carbohydrate-Active enZYmes Database (CAZy) and the Rice GT Database based on the gene models from the Rice Annotation Project (RAP) latest genome release (2013-04-24) and the MSU Rice Genome Annotation Project Database release 7 (osa7). The collection comprises 622 loci defined as GTs by CAZy and JBEI and 31 loci defined as GT-like or not classified (GTnc).

The current collection represents a beta release and as such the 114 clones are available in 2 96-wellplates. In the future the core collection will comprise seven plates of 96 tubes with the representative gene model for each locus (defined by cloning). An 8th 96-wellplate contains alternate gene models (if cloned) as well as the not classified GTs (GTnc) by CAZy and JBEI.

A schematic of the rice clone collection in its 96-wellplat format is shown below. GTs that have been successfully cloned have links to plasmid maps, vector sequence and sequence reads. These data are hosted by public instance of the Inventory for Composable Elements (ICE) at JBEI. Note: A login is required to access the ICE utility.

A digital copy of the current set of rice GTs and GTnc with their allocated plate positions in the collection can also be found here (xlsx file). The clone layout of this file will be the eventual 96-wellplate format for this collection.
